Buying a Suzuki Jimny in the UK in 2026: what’s actually available

Updated 25 August 2026

If you have started looking for a Suzuki Jimny in 2026, you have probably already discovered that the obvious route — walk into a Suzuki dealer and order one — no longer exists. Here is what is actually available.

What happened to the Jimny

Suzuki withdrew the passenger Jimny from the UK and Europe in 2020. The reason was not demand — the car sold as fast as it could be supplied — but CO2. Manufacturers are measured on a fleet average, and a small, boxy, ladder-framed 4×4 with a naturally aspirated petrol engine is a difficult thing to average down.

It returned in 2021 as a two-seat Light Commercial Vehicle, which faces a separate and more forgiving emissions target. That version has since been withdrawn as well.

Your four options today

1. A used pre-2020 passenger car

Genuine four-seat UK cars with full history. Finite supply, and prices reflect that: clean low-mileage examples regularly exceed original list price.

2. A used LCV

Two seats, cheapest route into a Jimny, mechanically identical. Excellent if you do not need to carry people.

3. A converted four-seat three-door

An LCV professionally converted back to four seats. Gets you a usable family car at less than pre-2020 used prices.

4. An imported five-door Nomad

Factory four-seater with rear doors, imported and UK-registered. The most practical Jimny ever built, and the most expensive route.

What you should expect to pay

The market average for a used Jimny sits around £28,500 and has risen roughly 12% over the past year. Used LCVs start considerably lower. Delivery-mileage imports occupy the top of the range.

The unusual thing about this market is that depreciation is not doing what it normally does. Buying a Jimny in 2026 is not like buying an ordinary used car, and you should not assume you will lose money in the way you would on a mainstream hatchback.

The mistake to avoid

Do not buy on price alone without establishing which configuration you are looking at. “Jimny” now covers two-seat vans, converted four-seaters, grey imports and UK cars, and the differences matter enormously for insurance, resale and everyday usability. Establish the configuration first, then compare prices within it.
