Jimny Commercial LCV
The Jimny LCV is the two-seat commercial version — the only Jimny Suzuki sold new in the UK after 2021, and now discontinued. For the right buyer it remains the sensible choice.
What it is
Mechanically identical to the passenger Jimny: 1.5-litre petrol, ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel drive with low range, ladder-frame chassis. The difference is behind the front seats — a flat load bay, no rear seats, and panelled rear sides in place of windows.
Who it suits
If you need a genuinely capable small 4×4 for work — farm, estate, forestry, survey, rural trades — the LCV is often the better buy. It is cheaper than an equivalent four-seat car, the load bay is more useful than a folded rear bench, and it does not carry the import premium.
If you need to carry passengers, it is the wrong vehicle and no amount of price advantage changes that. See four-seat options instead.
VAT and tax
The LCV is classified as a commercial vehicle, which affects how VAT and vehicle tax are treated. VAT-registered businesses can typically reclaim the VAT on purchase where the vehicle is used for business purposes.
The rules depend on your circumstances, so take advice from your accountant rather than from us — we sell vehicles, not tax advice, and the difference matters.
What to look for used
- Genuine working history — these are bought to be used, and honest wear is normal
- Underside condition, particularly on farm-used examples
- Service history for the transfer case and differentials
- Load bay condition and whether a liner was fitted
