Jimny Imports, UK Registered

Importing is now the main route to a four-seat or five-door Jimny in the UK. Here is how the process works, and what buying an already-imported car from us saves you.

Why import at all

The UK stopped receiving passenger Jimnys in 2020. The five-door has never been sold here. Both remain in production for other markets. Import is not a loophole — it is simply how you get a vehicle that is built but not distributed here.

What the process involves

  1. Sourcing. Identifying the right specification car in an exporting market, and verifying its condition and history before it moves.
  2. Shipping. Sea freight, with marine insurance for the crossing.
  3. Duty and VAT. Paid on arrival, calculated on the vehicle’s value plus shipping.
  4. Approval. The vehicle must be shown to meet UK requirements before it can be registered.
  5. Registration. DVLA issues a V5C and a UK registration number.

The honest case for buying one already done

Every step above carries cost, delay and risk. Exchange rates move while a car is on the water. Approval can turn up unexpected work. A private importer carries all of that personally.

Buying a car we have already imported and registered means you see a fixed price, a UK V5C, and a vehicle you can drive away. The margin we make is the price of removing that risk from you — that is a fair trade, and we would rather say so plainly than pretend the process is trivial.
